One final point: we can build a chord on any note. So far, we’ve been looking at a chord whose root is C. We call it a C chord. Here are two others:


F chord

F chord: root is F, 3rd is A, 5th is C.

 

G chord

G chord: root is G, third is B, fifth is D.

 


And as you'll soon find out, with just these three chords we can make a lot of music.
